What The Heck Is A Spring Market
Spring is when things really take off again. Not just with houses, but with life.
As all of the snow melts away and the cold gives in to the spring winds, everything seems to pick back up. People are back outside enjoying activities they would have otherwise put on hold due to the weather.Birds sing, kids are out running around being crazy and enjoying childhood, and the warmth of the sun makes everything come alive.
All of these positive thoughts and this constructive energy can be be felt everywhere, especially in the housing market. You may not realize it, but real estate is an insanely seasonal business.
Now common sense would say.. People need a house to live in no matter what season it is, right? Of course. But if people can put off moving until the weather is nicer and the overall process is simpler, why wouldn't they? The fact of the matter is no one likes to have to move heavy furniture when it's zero degrees outside unless they absolutely have to. And most of the time sellers are not to keen on the idea of strangers tracking snow and salt through their home while doing showings in the winter.
So what should you expect as we move into the warmer months of the year?Expect a lot more activity! You'll see a lot more homes hitting the market, but also a lot more people out there looking to buy. Options will increase but at the same time, so can competition. The best things you can do if you are gearing up to buy or sell are simple. Know what you want and be ready to pull the trigger. If you walk into a house and you love it, hesitation may just give someone else enough time to come in and beat out your offer.
Don't wait yourself out of something you really love. And always be asking questions. Even if something isn't relevant to your current situation, it may be useful info down the road.
